Mission
The Serials Department supports academic research and leisure reading by providing access to a diverse collection of print and online scholarly journals, newspapers, and magazines. The materials are freely accessible to students 24/7 in the open stacks on the library’s basement floor.

Integrity: We will be straightforward and pleasant in our interactions with every patron who uses the resources of the J.D. Boyd Library.
Knowledge: We will share our extensive knowledge and resources, including books, magazines, newspapers, microforms, websites, online databases, and print materials, in a courteous manner with every patron.
Service: We are committed to providing each patron with the best possible library experience through the least stressful means, utilizing the most up-to-date technology available at ASU to fulfill their information needs.
Communication: We will maintain an open, courteous, and attentive line of communication from start to finish of each library interaction between our employees and the patrons.
Goals
The Serials Department aims to curate a periodical collection that fulfills both the academic and recreational information needs of patrons. Additionally, the department has three key objectives:
1. To provide patrons with 24/7 online access to the library’s information services and databases, both on and off campus.
2. To extend the operating hours of the ASU library facility to better accommodate patrons’ daily information needs.
3. To encourage all library users, including staff, to explore the wide array of resources offered by the Serials Department, beyond just the most commonly used materials.
